LORI KIMMERLYLMFT, AAMFT Approved Supervisor
Lori is a licensed marriage and family therapist specializing in individual, couples and family therapy. The practice is hybrid offering telehealth and in person sessions in the Evergreen Building in Renton, WA

I became a therapist as a career change. I’d been a radio personality for many years and while it was fun, I realized the thing I loved most in life was people and hearing their stories. Becoming a therapist seemed like the most natural thing I could possibly do and 10 + years later I’m still all about being a witness to my clients stories and how they make sense of the world. I graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2008. My areas of passion are working through life transitions (both men and women) and working with couples who are stuck or having difficulty feeling connected – or even considering disconnecting. I believe change and hope are possible even when circumstance may not indicate that at present.

I’m an interactive, strength based and above all, emotionally focused therapist. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help you effectively address personal life challenges. I recently completed Level I of IFS (Internal Family System) the The premise of IFS is that similar to the complex external family system, individuals are composed of separate and multifaceted internal parts in relationship with each other. As a long term systems thinker, it make a lot of sense to me and has been both a personal and professional passion of mine since graduate school. I’d be honored to witness your system and your process of healing.

Personally, I remarried in 2015 and my husband and I are doing the hard and rewarding work of blending our families (at times it can feel like you’re in a blender). When I’m not in the office I love to read, connect with friends, and attempt to play bad golf with my husband.

I am an approved AAMFT supervisor. I have several members on my team that I supervise and consult with on a weekly basis.
