About Monique
I offer individual and relationship therapy for clients who want more fulfilling relationships, including concerns with conflict, repair, intimacy, and boundaries. I am especially drawn to working with queer and nonmonogamous clients. As the child of an immigrant raised in a multicultural family, I am also passionate about supporting clients navigating issues of mixed race identity and complex emotions around cultural heritage.
My approach is intersectional and rooted in liberation psychology. This means our work will incorporate the big picture of your life, social and cultural context, and how systems of power impact you.
I bring my genuine style of relating to sessions, which includes transparency, validation, and compassionate challenges. Our work together may involve tools to make present challenges more manageable (e.g. mindfulness), and deeper work with emotion, insight, and patterns in your relationships.
You may know exactly what you want out of therapy, or have no idea where to begin. Both are great places to start. If you are looking for a therapist who can meet you wherever you are with warmth and curiosity, reach out for a consult with me.
A Little More About Me
I’m a creative dabbler and love making things with whatever my medium of the moment happens to be at the time. Memoirs are my go-to reading genre, but you could get me to read any character-driven story that examines gender, culture, and politics. Listening to Reggaeton, Afrobeats, and over-the-top melodramatic regional Mexican music (think mariachi classics) can always get me into my body and lift my spirits.
